a very good friend of mine walks her rather large,
rather sweet pit bull puppy, carmela,
around her quiet neighborhood at night, for exercise and meditation.
two nights ago as they walked down the block a few houses from her own,
a neighbor was running down the street toward her.
she was not concerned, most of her neighbors walk or run at night.
the neighbor came closer and started to yell and scream at her and then ran right at her.
he knocked her down and began to pummel her head and back and arms.
she was so frightened and was screaming for help and
asking him to please stop hurting her.
(why we are polite to nut jobs is beyond me, but i would have said, please, too)
all the while, she held on to carmela's leash and the rather large pit bull probably thought she was playing a game with the humans and just was jumping around.
the nut job neighbor then reached into his clothes and
my friend just knew he was going to pull out a gun.
but he just proceeded to get naked,
(at least my friend thought he was naked.
her glasses flew off in the attack and his bits and pieces were all blurry to her!!)
and then said he was a nice person.
by this time a woman spotted this atrocity and called the police
who showed up within minutes, all five squad cars.
the nut job began to fight the police and ended up getting tazered in his naked ass.
now, my friend who is the nicest person in the universe, is now a bit shell shocked and will probably always be in fear of any white male runners.
she has a few bumps and bruises and feels very lucky to be alive.
the most irritating part of this whole nightmare is that it could have been avoided if the nut job's parents, whom he lives with weren't "anti-police" (their words)
and would have called the police on him for completely destroying the inside of their house earlier in the day,
before my friend went for her nightly walk.
what the heck is being "anti police"?
and who allows their grown children to behave in such a manner and not fear for their lives or that of innocent bystanders??
this really makes me angry.
obviously the nut job is in dire need of psychiatric help, why wouldn't his parents want to help him??
and how come they weren't scared for their lives??
and what about the pit bull?? where's an attack dog when you need one??i guess the lesson here is although all dogs bite, not all dogs will attack, no matter what the breed.
she had no idea she neglected to protect her human.
through this entire thing, carmela just was jumping around, thinking it was fun time, still on her leash, still being held by my friend while she was defending herself!!
and knowing my friend, she wouldn't want it any other way.*
the nicest person in the universe has the nicest dog in the universe!
now if she can only get the nicest neighbors in the universe,
all would be well in this world...
